St Andrews Residential
This former hospital site is bound by the Blackwell Tunnel northern approach, a B road and above ground Underground lines. Cole Jarman undertook the noise and vibration assessment as part of the Environmental Statement that covered these noise sources as well as the impact of construction noise. The noise exposures beside the Blackwell Tunnel northern approach were such that national planning guidance recommended refusal, however we showed that satisfactory internal noise levels could be achieved with appropriate sound insulation. Planning consent was granted and the scheme for 964 homes and associated gardens and community facilities then built by Barratt London. The scheme won National Housing Design Awards in 2011 and 2012.
