In June 2015 Cole Jarman once again entered a team into the annual Acoustics Cup 5-a-side tournament, this year in aid of homelessness charity Crisis. Anticipation was high in the weeks leading up to the tournament as for the first time since the tournament’s inception, the squad managed to get together to practice without picking up any injuries.
Things started well in the first group game as Acoustics Cup débutante Ben Harper opened the scoring, but CJ capitulated in the second half conceding two goals and going on to lose the game. The group stage fixtures continued to come thick and fast and despite goalkeeping heroics from director Tom Zarebski, CJ suffered defeats in the next two games, battling to a 0-0 draw in the final group game.
Progressing next to the plate quarter final the team rallied for one last push, but finding themselves 2-1 down late on could not find the necessary goal to force a penalty shoot-out, and slipped to defeat and out of the tournament.
The team on the day featured managing director Philip Hankin, Tom Zarebski, Johnny Berrill, Ian Yates, Lee Montague, Andy Emery, Tim Fox and Ben Harper. Thanks go once again to Campbell Associates for organising an enjoyable event in aid of a worthy cause.
